The following text was read on a Billboard, at Jagtvej 69 in Copenhagen - the address of the former Copenhagen Youth house.
A city quarter in growth
Nørrebro has evolved from a rundown working neighborhood to a modern metropolis. Slum and ghetto areas are transformed into fashionable housing, recreation areas and lucrative shopping opportunities. A strong housing market, private investments and an active cultural life, underpins the thriving growth of the city quarter. Living standards have improved markedly which attracts more and more high-income and resourceful citizens. Nørrebro has become an attractive place to live.
A clean city is a safe and secure city. Therefore, we attach great importance to cleanliness in all aspects. This applies to graffiti on walls and advertising pillars as well as garbage and waste thrown away on streets and public squares. Moreover, the non-allowance of certain parts of the social nightlife, increased control of concert places, street festivals, and assemblies at such, are all key elements. All this happens in order to regulate the activities in the most appropriate fashion. In addition, the police have tightened their efforts with a greater presence in the area.
2200NBR is initiated in order to strengthen the district's cultural profile. 2200NBR is in this context, an initiative to create spaces and recreational areas in the district, which invites all kinds of activities, including ball games, sunbathing and picnic. Only imagination sets the limits. We invite everyone to use the roads and squares and together contribute to create a diverse cultural life. Now you can help to mark your town profile as a cultural hub and contribute with the kind of project there is no room for elsewhere.
We hereby welcome a new free haven in Copenhagen.
